The Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team competes with a unique, modern identity, but its foundation rests on one of Formula 1’s most fiercely passionate and resilient independent stories. Operating out of Faenza, Italy, the team originally entered the sport in 1985 as Minardi. Despite limited budgets, Minardi became a paddock favorite, famous for punching above its weight and discovering legendary future champions like Fernando Alonso. In late 2005, energy drink giant Red Bull purchased the team, transforming it into Scuderia Toro Rosso to serve as an official junior pipeline for the senior Red Bull squad. It was under this guise that a young Sebastian Vettel secured an unforgettable, wet-weather maiden victory at Monza in 2008. The team later rebranded to Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2020, where Pierre Gasly claimed a historic victory at the Italian Grand Prix, before modernizing further into RB and eventually settling on its permanent name.
Cultivating Elite Talent
Throughout its evolution, the Faenza outfit has never wavered from its core structural philosophy: acting as a highly competitive laboratory to cultivate elite motorsport talent. Under decades of steady guidance from former boss Franz Tost, the team refined its technical infrastructure, establishing a close aerodynamic design base in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, to work alongside its main Italian production facility. This dual-site layout allowed the team to adapt efficiently to complex design overhauls while serving as the definitive stepping stone for major F1 figures like Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, and Carlos Sainz. After a comprehensive executive overhaul ahead of the 2024 season, the leadership was completely reimagined to shift the team away from a pure “junior” designation and into a highly independent, commercial powerhouse.
A New Generation in 2026
The 2026 season marks an unprecedented era for Racing Bulls as they navigate the sport’s massive technical and engine regulation reset. Under the continuing operational leadership of CEO Peter Bayer and Team Principal Alan Permane, the team officially ends its dependency on Honda power units. Instead, the squad hits the track with the highly anticipated, first-generation Red Bull Ford hybrid power units, cementing a massive corporate and technical integration with Ford through Red Bull Ford Powertrains. On the grid, the striking VCARB 03 challenger is piloted by an incredibly fast, youthful, all-Anzac and British line-up. New Zealander Liam Lawson returns to lead the garage, while British prodigy and Red Bull academy breakout star Arvid Lindblad makes his highly anticipated Grand Prix debut, signaling a bold new chapter for the historic Faenza squad.
